Rough Riders Hotel Town Square
The restoration and expansion of the historic Rough Riders Hotel is the biggest project ever undertaken by the Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation. Harold Schafer started the adventure of his life in Medora by restoring the original Rough Riders Hotel nearly 50 years ago. It's time to breathe new life back into it again, and we're doing that. Construction is underway, with restoration complete on the original hotel in June of 2009, and the addition of our conference center and 68 modern hotel rooms in June of 2010.
Total cost of the project is $12.5 million. The capital campaign envisions gifts of $7 million. Significant naming opportunities remain. The Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation Development team will be happy to discuss them with you. All gifts will be recognized on the Wall of Honor in the newly restored hotel and on plaques throughout the hotel.
Medora Musical Welcome Center
The Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation has invested more than $7 million in facilities on "Amphitheatre Hill," home to the Medora Musical and The Pitchfork Steak Fondue, two of Medora's top attractions. Our most recent addition was the $1 million Medora Musical Welcome Center, which now greets 95,000-105,000 visitors to the Musical each summer. The Welcome Center is our gift shop, ticket center, and Medora Musical Museum, tracing the 50-year history of shows in the Burning Hills Amphitheatre. We are seeking a single sponsor at the half-million dollar level for this facility.
