Medora Endowment

Medora’s Permanent Endowment Fund

When Harold Schafer sold his Gold Seal Company in 1986, he gifted the company's assets in Medora to a new foundation he created, the Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation, and created an endowment to support Medora's ongoing operations.  Today, earnings from our endowment help us make Medora better for our visitors every year. Gifts to our endowment qualify for significant North Dakota income tax breaks under a new law passed by the North Dakota Legislature in 2007. As with our other endowment funds, husbands and wives who contribute to our permanent endowment fund qualify for a 40 per cent North Dakota Income Tax Credit, up to $20,000 per year, for planned gifts to the Medora endowment. Considerable information is available from the TRMF Development team.
